Incorporated contracts with the Workforce Investment Board to coordinate
Rapid Response services in a five county area: Vanderburgh, Posey,
Perry, Spencer and Perry. CCI responds to on-site notifications of
plant or business closures and mass layoffs.
Services include group orientation sessions, establishment of Worker
Transition Committees, and arranging for early intervention services,
assisting both employers and workers facing job loss.
Rapid Response encompasses the activities necessary to plan and deliver
services enabling dislocated workers to transition to new employment
as quickly as possible.
Workers are encouraged to register for work in CS3 (Customer Self
Service System) and to take advantage of all services available through
their nearest One Stop office including self service job matching,
filing for unemployment insurance, testing, counseling and referral
to other services.
The federal dislocated worker program authorizes an array of comprehensive
services and services are tailored to meet the need of the dislocation
event and the individual dislocated worker¹s needs. Services
include skills assessment and training, basic and remedial education,
job development and some support services.
Workers whose employment is adversely affected by increased imports
may apply for services under TAA, established under the Trade Act
of 1974. In 1993, the NAFTA Implementation Act established a similar
program for workers in companies affected by imports from Mexico or
Canada or by shifts in production to those countries. In addition
to standard services such as job placement assistance and counseling,
workers may be eligible for training income support for up to 50 weeks
after a worker has exhausted unemployment compensation and while the
worker is enrolled in full time training, job search allowance and
relocation assistance.
